Colorado National Guard Foundation

The Colorado National Guard Foundation was established as a result of the Gulf War in 1991. Many Guardmembers experienced financial hardship due to their deployment.  Today, the Foundation assists soldiers and airmen who are experiencing financial hardship and need assistance to pay their rent or utilities.

The Foundation DOES NOT make car payments.  If you are a member of the Colorado Army or Air National Guard and are in need of an emergency loan, click the thumbnail below, fill out the application and submit it to start the qualification process with the Foundation committee for review. Include copies of your bills (debts) with your application. Please understand this is an interest-free loan. It DOES need to be PAID BACK.

The Foundation gives interest-free loans and grants to soldiers and airmen who are in need of emergency financial assistance for medical emergencies; line-of-duty injuries in which incapacitation pay is not made to the military member in a timely manner; pay and allowances for Guard duty are late or a disaster such as a home burning down all qualify as emergencies.

All requests for grants or loans are taken on a case-by-case basis.  The Foundation Board is comprised of officers, NCOs and government civilian employees who administer the rules and regulations of running the Foundation. The Foundation has an Emergency Relief Committee that is comprised of officers, NCOs and government civilian employees. These individuals look at all loan and grant requests. Three members of the Emergency Relief Board must come to a consensus on whether a soldier or an airman is eligible for a loan or grant. Loans are NOT an entitlement. Soldiers and Airmen are applying for an interest-free LOAN. There are criteria that must be met by the military member to qualify for the loan.

ELIGIBILITY

1. Only active members of the Colorado National Guard and their family members are eligible to apply for and receive emergency financial assistance.

2. Applicants must have an ETS date of at least 1-year left on their contract at the time they apply for the loan.

3. Applicant must be in good standing with their unit.

4. The request for financial assistance must be for a true emergency. The requested money will actually assist the military member in resolving their problem.

5. The applicant cannot have an outstanding CNG Foundation loan or two loans in one year.

REPAYMENT

The Foundation replenishes its funds from loan repayment, the Combined Federal Campaign and donations. All funds are used to assist Guard members and their families. Should a soldier or airmen renege on their loan repayment, they will be sent to a collection agency.
